Dear CRF, “Should a person with a career refuse to date/ reject a person with a restaurant job. I’m an educator and I’m casually chatting with a guy (both are i .our 30s.) He works as a cook at a restaurant, he would like to go out on a date. I shared this with my married sister who says I shouldn’t lower my standards and date a guy with “just a job. ” I feel as long as he is driven, I should give him a chance. RESPONSE

I think your sister is shallow and you are correct. Go on a date with him, get to know him. You may find that this cook is the perfect gentleman. You may find that you don’t like him at all. You won’t know that until you give him a chance. However, don’t date him if you’re going in with thoughts that he may change. Date him if you like who he is as a person now.
