Have you noticed that your work life has been having a negative impact on your love life? You spend 8-10 hours a day in the office, factory, store, etc and then you come home too tired or stressed to engage with your loved ones. This becomes a routine and the disconnect between you and your family grows. Now there are arguments or even worse, the silent treatment. Here are a few things you can implement into your time on the job that will help you feel better when you get home:

1) Just Say No to the Vending Machine
Not eating properly has negative affects on your physical and mental health. Instead of grabbing a candy bar and soda bring healthy snacks to work with you such as fresh fruit, nuts, and seeds (don’t forget your water).

2) Take a Break for a Walk
Even a quick 10 minute walk can help can have amazing benefits. It helps to relieve depression, reduces stress, improves your heart health, and brain functions just to name a few. When you start to feel the afternoon slump coming on take a quick, brisk walk and rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul to push through the rest of your work day and finish off strong.

3) Skip the Elevator
One practice to implement is to take the stairs. If you work on a very high floor I suggest starting with taking the stairs down. Once you get used to taking the stairs down you can add an upward routine. One such routine could be walking up five flights and then taking the elevator the rest of the way. Each week you can add a new level until you can take the stairs all the way up to your floor.

These three suggestions will have a positive affect on your physical and mental health, as well as a positive impact on your work life, which will in turn help with having a happier love life. Statistics show that workers who implement wellness into their work routine are not only more productive but also happier. You owe it to yourself and your loved ones to make wellness a part of your routine. The better you feel the more value you can add to your love life.
